Camie Engel

My master’s degree from Regent University of Virginia Beach, was devoted to diving deeper into the complex issue of grief. I see myself as an empathetic healer to those that are struggling through the grieving process.

Aside from working in employee benefits for New York State, I am a trustee for both the East Greenbush Community Library and the Upper Hudson Library System. My husband and I are proud parents to 6 children between us, 6 grandchildren, and 4 lively Labrador retrievers. I write a monthly grief and loss column for the Our Towne Magazine, a supplemental publication that is sent to over 21 thousand Rensselaer County residents.

With that realization came the launch of Organize Senior Moves in 2008 and a totally different area of business where she and her team of 20+ help clients transition into new homes, many times senior living facilities. With one hug she makes new clients feel like old friends and helps ease all of their fears and worries about the next phase of their lives. Dean Novkov is the author of several books and co-edited volumes, most recently coauthoring with Carol Nackenoff American by Birth: Wong Kim Ark and the Battle for Citizenship (University Press of Kansas 2022).Her Racial Union (University of Michigan Press 2008) was the co-recipient of the American Political Science Association’s 2009 Ralph Bunche Award for the best scholarly work in political science which explores the phenomenon of ethnic and cultural pluralism. This book argues that the criminal regulation of interracial intimacy played a pivotal role in shaping and reflecting the development of white supremacy in Alabama between the end of the Civil War and the beginning of the Civil Rights Era. Her first book, Constituting Workers, Protecting Women (University of Michigan Press 2001), addressed gender and constitutional development, rereading through the lens of gender the history of the courts’ unwillingness to accept protective legislation for workers in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She and Carol Nackenoff co-edited Stating the Family (University Press of Kansas 2020) and Statebuilding from the Margins (University of Pennsylvania Press 2014), and she also co-edited Race and American Political Development (with Joseph Lowndes and Dorian Warren, Routledge Press in 2008), and Security Disarmed (with UAlbany professor Barbara Sutton and Sandra Morgen, Rutgers University Press 2008). Jacqueline Weckesser

I have worked with seniors and elders in both the community and residential settings as a social worker, LMSW, for over 40 years. Yoga came to me as a way to help heal my body after a physical injury. After 10 years of practice, I was drawn to learn more about yoga, which had enriched my life in so many ways. My training at the Kripalu Center gave me the confidence to share this with others. When I’m not working with the Eddy, you can find me sharing the gift of yoga and meditation with various communities, teaching private lessons and working at a local yoga studio.
